Bed Size On 2004 Model

By looking at the pictures of the 04 F150, it looks like a Super Crew with a larger bed.(Under the covering) What do you all think?
I think Ford has to extend the bed size like the Dodge Ram 1500.
I know the Ford Super Crew has more room inside the than the Dodge 1500 Quad Cab, but the need to extend a little. Anyone agree?

Absolutely!
Ford needs to extend the frame and bed on the 4 door pickup. Also, they could increase the payload to match that of the extended cab short bed. I don't remember the numbers, but it seems like the payload for the extended cab was double that of the screw.

All we need is, 4 inches more on the short bed. So a dirt bike can fit with the tailgate closed.

YEEEEEEESSSSSS! It's all about the dirt bike fitting in the bed with the tailgate closed! Who cares about anything else, I just want to protect my precious YZ 426!

OR...

i myself think they should put the supercrew cab on the supercab-longbed frame and slap a bed similar in length to what is on my supercab short bed...i would trade mine in a second for that...

I think it would also help the looks of the truck. With the bed being short it throws off the look (too square). I think the Hymalaya Concept Expedition looks cool (no bed though)
But it's the slant of the rear door that helps. Motor on!

Yesterday evening after leaving work I walked out the front door of the office and right in front of me was a brand new dodge 4 door. I thought to myself "Man that would look good if it was a Ford!"

I agree, but they might take away some of their SD Sales. When I was looking for something to replace my 98 F-150 ext. cab - short bed 2x4, I was looking at the screw. I only looked at it for a half second, it just looked to short with the 139" wb and the 5.5' bed. If the bed was longer, at least 6.5', I would have gone for it. Instead I got a F-250 SD Crew Cab 8' bed 4x4. I'm glad I did.

Dodge has as much room in fact has more hip and shoulder room plus a 9" longer bed
Go to Fords web site and use the compare feature

From another view, the reason I bought the SCrew was because it did have the shorter bed. Needed something that would fit more than two people, but wanted something that I could throw pinestraw or dirt in without messing up the inside, this truck was the perfect solution. Not to mention I like being able to park it in my garage and most parking spots.Would be nice if it was an option like with most other trucks - short or long bed.

I absolutly agree the SuperCrew bed should be at least as long as the supercab shortbed. I have a SC/SB now, and there is no way I can deal with a shorter bed that the 6.5 footer. I actually use the truck bed. If Ford can not make the bed bigger, after owning 5 new Ford vehicles I'll likely look towards GM and their HD 1500.

Farmboy,
if you go to a Chevy HD1500, why wouldn't you just get a SuperDuty?

The Chevy is a HD truck with springs removed... its NOT a 1500 in that sense. The direct competition to the SuperCrew is the Avalanche, which is even more retarded than a 5 foot bed on a Ford.

C'mon, an option for an 8 ft bed would be nice too.

Or what about a regular cab with the 5 ft box?

Whats funny is that if you really look at the new dodge 4 door, its not really much bigger then their old extended cab. The front doors arent as long as the older ones, and the rear doors (even though they do hinge from the front) arent much longer then the older extended cab rear doors. Id like to pull a tape measure from the front of the front door, to the rear of the rear door on the old and new to see how much it is actually bigger, i dont think its much.

I just bought my screw and was also looking at dodge. I sat in the back of both and the ford has more room. The dodges back seat is also more upright and not as comfortable.
As far as the bed length goes if ford offered more options thats great, but if the only option is a longer bed I would have got something else. I didn't buy the screw as a "pickup", I got it to be a true sport "utility". It is already longer than my friends 97 suburban, any longer and I would need tracks to run it on.
