Transmission acting up

I had an accident at the end of May, rear ended a minivan, damaged my trans cooler lines. Replaced and repaired those but now my trans doesn't "feel" the same/doesn't shift right. Could that it was puking fluid have allowed air to get in the lines and is causing shift problems?

2006 F-150 XLT 5.4 supercab, current mileage is 133,729, anyone have any ideas?

If you think you have air, a fluid exchange with a machine should take care of that.

Have you verified the fluid level? Just checking. The air introduced into the fluid circuit by replacing the radiator, auxiliary cooler, cooler lines, or any combination of those items would be quickly pushed out and into the pan of the transmission as soon as you start it up. You would need to add more fluid to bring it up to the proper level. Worse case, if your thermal valve in the cooler lines was blocking the flow of fluid up to the front at first, it will flow up there as soon as you got it warmed up. Crank it up, check the fluid level, drive it some, check the fluid level again, and so on. If you are certain it is properly filled, there may be some contaminants in the fluid due to the accident. Hard to say for sure. You could always drop the pan and look. And even drop the valve body and look for foreign objects. It's relatively non-invasive to do these items.
