Oil in plug wells

I'm hoping someone can answer my question. I've searched online and can't find anything.
I'm in the process of changing my spark plugs on a 2007 F150 5.4. I've pulled 3 plugs so far, have the lisle tool on hand. Replacing COP boots and springs as I go. Also replacing COP plug connectors as needed.
I've pulled the COPs on cylinders 7 & 8 and there seemed to be a lot of gunk, which looked like hardened oil in the wells and around the boots.i had to scrape and use wire brush to clean around plug well opening. Especially #8, the boot and spring was wet with oil. I'm thinking it came from the PCV connection. When I removed the PCV hose so I could reach plugs easier, it had oil dripping from it. The connection coming out of valve cover has thick oil around it. I know the PCV is non serviceable, so not easy to change. Can I clean it? Should I replace the hose? Is there something else I should check? Any help would be appreciated!
