Problem on front wheels

I recently got two new tires and the guy had the truck lifted up front and started shaking the wheel and said that it was a problem that there was movement. Another guy pointed it out to me the part that needed to be changed but didn't say what it was called. I told them id get it done later. Anyone know what this part might be and if it's an easy job? I believe it's the part circled in the photo if I remember correctly.

That's the outer tie rod he has circled. Alignment will be required, I'd take it to a reputable front end shop and get everything checked.

Does play in the wheel mean it's definitely the outer tie rod? There's play in my front passenger side wheel but not the driver side.

No, it has to be looked at by someone who knows what they are looking at.

my mechanic took a look and confirmed its the outer tie rod that is causing the play. Is Delphi a good brand for outer tie rod or should I pay more than double for the motorcraft? Another brand?

Moog. It's greaseable.

If you replace it yourself, remember to get an alignment. If you have it done, the job should include an alignment.

EDIT: A suggestion - either create a signature with your truck details or provide them in the first post you make in a thread. I had to search out your old posts to figure out exactly what you have.

Thinking of changing the front struts at the same time as the outer tie rods. Couple questions, how important is getting 350 ft lbs of torque on that lower bolt as my torque wrench only goes to 250. Should I bite the bullet and get a bigger wrench? Also which strut is best bang for buck? Thanks.

I'd say that the Monroes would be the most cost effective.

Due to a broken coil spring I installed KYB quick struts in the '04 I had. They had a better ride and the truck sat about an inch higher than with the OEM struts. Very happy with them.

Are they worth twice what the Monroes cost?

To me yes. I haven't had good experiences with Monroe products.

Went ahead and did the fuel filter, oil, and rear shocks... still waiting on the tools (lost in mail) to do the outer tie rod and struts. It's feeling a little stiff in the back but I read that's to be expected. Hopefully after the strut and tie rod install w alignment it'll run straighter, feel smoother.

So I did something stupid, thought I had turned off the e-brake after jacking up the truck, but it was on and I drove on the highway. Problem is that the e-brake light is always on. Today I took off the dash cover and wiggled the sensor a bit, as I have seen this can solve the problem in some vehicles. The light did go on and off but mostly stayed on. Thinking the issue is that the truck is telling me I need new e-brake pads? Especially after 15 mins on the highway.
