Did you check/replace the fuel filter?

Carry a can of starter fluid and when it won't start, spray some fluid into the intake and see if it starts. If not, it's probably an ignition problem.

Will it start if you floor the gas pedal? If so, you have leaky injectors.

Might try cranking it in neutral, jiggling the key. Probably won't help but worth a try.

Does it have any DTCs ? What is the fuel rail pressure when it won't crank?

Can't read the rail pressure on a 2004 without a scanner, no Schrader valve.

Confirm - it cranks but won't start? If so, putting it in neutral won't help.

I would check the FPDM for corrosion.

Confirm - holding the gas pedal to the floor doesn't help?

I'd take it to an auto parts store and ask them to scan it for you. If you do, let us know what they found and maybe we'll be able to help further.

Symptoms of a P0193 engine code may include:
Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) illuminated
Lack of power
Engine cranks but won't start

Potential causes for this code to set are:
FRP signal short to PWR
FRP signal circuit open
Damaged FRP sensor

F150 2004
Recap: Hard starting after extended driving, requiring 3 attempts before it runs
Replaced: Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel pressure sensor, fuel pump driver module (FPDM)
Tried: Flooring gas pedal while cranking

Do you smell gas or see black smoke out the exhaust when this occurs?

I read another post that said just pushing down on the gas pedal slightly while cranking resolved this.

Another test you could try at home, after driving, and when it is warm and won't crank, pull a plug and check for wetness. If it's wet, then we'll know the pressure is really too high, which will point back to the FPDM.Also, be mindful that a number of folks here have replaced the FPDM only to later find out it was bad. It can be tested.

Finally, it would really help if you had a OBD reader that could read fuel rail pressure and fuel trims. You might want to invest in one if you plan to do much future vehicle maintenance yourself.
