Question Transmission swap problems...

I have a 2004 F150 Heritage XL with a 4.2L A/T. My tranny went out and I installed one out of a 2000 Ford F150. Everything worked great except the speed sensor. Is there a difference in the speed sensor pickup rings in these tranny's?

I know there is in the new body style starting in 2004, but I don't know about the Heritage.

Okay, I just did some research. It depends on the transmission ID of your 2004 transmission - 1L3P-DA can be replaced with a 2001-2003 4.2 2WD 1L3P-DA transmission, 4L3P-AA can only be replaced by another 2004 Heritage 4.2 2WD 4L3P-AA transmission. 2000 and earlier are not electronically compatible with either.
