Transmission bug

Ok I'm at my wits end. 05 lariat screw, 4x4, 5.4, 208xxx.
It started with a burned wiring harness that had fallen on the exhaust manifold, which caused a trans fault, and o/d off light flashing. I pulled the harness soldered up the burned wires, and fluked the harness. The problem persisted.
I used FORscan and pulled the codes. P0960 is what comes up. Pressure control solenoid open circuit.

So I dropped the pan changed the filter and the solenoids.
Got it all back together and filled and now the codes are gone, but... under normal acceleration the transmission acts like it goes into neutral between 2nd, 3rd, and overdrive.
The trucks shifts perfect if I gas on it, or if I let off the throttle completely.
PLEASE HELP

My best guess is when the harness melted against the exhaust manifold, the wires shorted causing damage to the electronics in the transmission.

Ok so I took it up to a local shop, and the mechanic says it needs a new transmission. He claims that the pump isn't picking up fluid from the pan, he says that the fluid is rising on the dip stick as the transmission gets hot. This doesn't make much sense. How did I go from a 99% working transmission to needing a new one with just a pan drop and a pressure control solenoid change?

I'd go get a second opinion from a GOOD transmission shop.

So this just crossed my mind. When I did the pan drop I refilled the transmission with STP mercon V and not Motorcraft. Would that make a difference?

Nope. Mercon V is Mercon V.

I suspect that you either used the wrong solenoids or you didn't do something right when you changed them.

Anything is possible. I changed 2 of solenoids about a year ago (the easy ones). I changed the the pressure control solenoid (the one behind the shift linkage) last Saturday. Seemed pretty straightforward.
