4x4 light does not come on

I have a 2006 f150 4.6l xlt. The 4wd works in high and low gears. I tested it out in the snow a month ago. But no indicator light to tell me that it is or isnt. Its the manual on the floor selector not the switch in dash to change gears. I put the truck in test mode and "bulb check" the lights for 4x4 high and low are both illuminated so the bulbs arent out. I then swapped out the 4x4 iwb solenoid to the updated one with the rain cover over it as it wasnt done when i bought it. The light still doesnt illuminate after placing it in 4wd. I then checked the transfer case switch the metal ball one where it gets pushed in when the gear gets selected it isnt stuck or anything and i checked it with a voltmeter for continuity and it tested okay. All fuses are okay none are blown that i checked in relation to 4x4. What else should i try? I have heard some people fixed it by swapping out transfer case motor but it does already work just no light. Would that have an effect on the light part even though 4x4 is working. What else should i be looking for? Possibly wiring between the transfer case switch being bad???
