Removing Vehicle Security System

I have a 2005 F150 for about 3 years and the alarm has been a pain in the butt from day 1. How hard is it to remove the system. Black box under dash: EGN P/N: 2W7J-19A498-AA Ford Motor Company Vehicle Security System. I just want it gone, no more waking the neighbors at 5am headed out to go hunting or fishing.

Sounds like an CodeAlarm system. I think you can simply unplug it.

Keep in mind, you'll need to use the other set of key fobs and not the CodeAlarm ones...

The 2004 F150 I had came with a factory installed alarm system. The black box under the dash had FoMoCo stamped into the plastic case. Like yours, mine became a headache so I pulled the plug on it and put it in a bag just in case it effected other systems....it didn't. Oddly though, the little red blinking light on the dash still blinked when the truck was locked. Still have the black box but no 2004 F150.

The red blinking light is the PATS anti-theft system.

Nope, there's more to it than just unplugging it. But the engine keeps running if I unplug it after starting.

Interesting.

You might want to consult a local locksmith or alarm installer.

You could bring it by Ford, but it will cost $$.

Everything seems to work except it won't start with the module unplugged. I might try a jumper on that circuit.
