Question 04-08 Ford Emblems

I have heard that the 04-08 Ford emblems were the ONLY emblems, made by Ford, that peeled, faded, and lost their colors. Why is this?
My son works at a Ford dealership and can get me the front grill and tail gate emblems, FREE. But, is there any way that I can preserve them from damage, such as spraying them with a clear coat?

It was really just in the '06-maybe 07 range that they have those issues. 04-05 were fine and I believe by '08 they were fine again. As you know, Ford had some really weird quality issues during those years. Just like the manifolds...04-05 were mostly ok. 06-08 had more warpage issues reported on forums when they altered the manifold design.

Just be glad that it's only an emblem that looks like garbage. Imagine if the paint were to fade, crack, and peel. Every Chevy Express I've seen has paint peeling off the hood.

The emblem which I removed off my front grille looks like cr*p. But still better than a lot of the really bad ones.

I have an early 08 F150. I replaced the front one a couple of years ago. The rear one doesn't look good, but not bad enough to replace yet.

My grill emblem has been okay on my '08 ('07 Build date). The tailgate emblem had the de-lamination issue after about 6-7 years, and I replaced it with a new emblem from Ford and it still looks good so far.

If you wax them several times a year, hopefully you're doing the truck too! Mine look like new and several friends as well that have 07's.

Question

UPDATE
The emblems my son got for me from Ford are faded bad. I need to find some new ones.
If I buy some more new emblems and clear coat them, will that preserve them?
Anyone ever bought them from EBAY or AMAZON?

My mint 2007 with a mere 50,000 miles when I got it and had the emblem peeling. I have since replaced it and the grille with a Lariat one.

I think it looks better now with the Lariat grille, chrome bumpers and OEM headlights . I just scored a set of Lincoln Mark LT headlights for it today as-well so I get to look forward to putting those on, I'm very fond of the 07-08 Mark LT headlights.

My 2007 I had to replace my front one back in 2015. I think it got a stone chip and let water in to give it that weird effect.

I got a deal on one at my local Ford parts counter. Not sure if it was "really" a deal, but it was cheap.
