I need a rear end for a 06 F150

Hello all,

I am having a real hard time finding a rear end cor my 06 F15 super cab Flareside. The tag on the pumpkins says -
V801N
SL 55. 88. 5M19
great truck with about 280k on it and even though the tags says 5.4 Triton V8 after doing research and searching the VIN it is really a 4.6? Ive been to a couple of people who had that rear end but of course when I get there its nit the right one. I even ordered one and paid and theee days later the website sent me an email that said the rear they had failed the inspection so they had to get rod of it and they have no more. Ill get a refund? It was $500.00 including shipping and said rebuilt w/ 1 year warranty. I jumped ob it. Now im back to square one...

Does anyone have a good online supplier I can check out? unfortunately im not a rich man so I was trying to save a couple bucks but Ill losten to the advice I get here becaise it seems there are some very smart people on this forum.

thanks for reading!

Sean

Welcome!

the tag means:
Limited Slip
3.55:1
8.8" ring gear

The axle would have been behind a 4.6 engine truck. The 5.4 of that era got the larger 9.75" axle

Thank you Patman! Yeah its weird one owner before me and the badges say 5.4. Oh well prob switched. I love the truck.

i heard from some one that the axles are also a little longer because of the shape of the bed?

Im just trying to find a good deal on one so I can buy it and have it sent over so my Buddys and I can put it in.

never heard anything about the axle being longer. I seriously doubt that is correct information

if you'd like to post a picture of the engine bay, I can help identify which engine you have
