Angry 2004 F150 rear bumper interchange

Hello..I have a 2004 (new style) F150 that is in need of a rear bumper. The only listings online I've come across are for 2006-2008 F150. I spent half the morning calling Ford dealerships..salvage yards and body shops to see if a 2007 rear bumper will interchange with my '04. No one was able to answer this question..said they were two different numbers, but that did not mean they couldn't be swapped (told that it could be as simple as a difference in the trim on the bumper). PLEASE HELP!!
Thanks in advance.

My professional suggestion is to measure your mounts on your '04, go to a junk yard and measure the mounts on a '06-'08 and see how you fare.

I do remember that the '04 & '05 F-150's had a special rear bumper integrated with the trailer hitch. It made for one hell of a strong hitch - and one hell of an expensive bumper. They re-designed it to reduce the cost and that's probably the other part number you are seeing.

As for the ability to swap the older bumper for a newer one, that's still a valid (and unanswered) question. I'd have to see them side by side and take some measurements. I kind of doubt the frame is much different though.
