Dreaded blend door questions

I have an 04 FX4 that has the blend door click.

The first time it happened, the door was stuck on the outside air in the dead of winter, I replaced the actuator and it lasted around 6 months before it would click when I would change the temp ****. I replaced the actuator again (both Dorman brand) and it made it about a month before it is clicking again.

Since winter is approaching is it safe to assume the door itself is F'd and I should just be replacing it? I was thinking heater treater if it needs replacement. Or could it be something else? I have read about a secondary motor, but I have only ever changed the top motor behind the radio.

OK I wasn't sure if the Dorman ones were that crappy.

I'll give the stealership a call and see how much they want to soak me for one!

Update -- Called a local dealership, $150 for the actuator. I told them to shove off.

check online for dealers who sell at a discount on line. If you have the Ford part number, google it and see what turns up.

Yeah, I am thinking Rock Auto might be the place. Reasonable shipping to Canada and great price.

Have to put 30 to 35% on it for exchange from Tasca but still a way better price.

Update question. Is there any calibration that needs to be done after I install the new motor? Does it just 'know' where the door is?
