2004 5.4L Rough Idle and No Power

Will shake and stall sometimes at lights or when going slow in reverse. Shakes randomly while driving. Rarely am I able to get it up over 3500 rpms. Can hear a slight rattle coming from under drivers side when accelerating.

Had cam phasers done a few years ago. Truck still has a knocking sound. Just put in new vct solenoids, no change. Swapped side for the cam postion sensors and no change.

New fuel, oil, and air filters.

Attached the current codes I'm getting.

p2196 and p0345 did not show up until today after not having done anything to the truck for about a week.

Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Jumped time?

This does not look good. Bank 1 too rich (confirmed by 2196 - O2 Sensor Bank 1 WAY Rich & Not switching). On top of that, Bank 2 is headed for a DTC demand code of TOO LEAN.

Then your mention of the rattle - sounds like it could be broken guides AGAIN.

That makes me believe the P0345 code could be from bank 2 jumping a tooth in timing on the crank or phaser sprocket and the PCM is NOW trying everything it can do to compensate for the 'unbalanced' aspiration ability of the two banks. (ie: Increase STFT on one bank and Decrease STFT on the other).

Did you have broken guides before? Did you remove the Pan and clean debris out of the Oil Pump pickup screen?

I notice you are using the Torque Pro app. If you are familiar with adding Custom PIDs and gauges, your diagnosis of the problem could possibly benefit from Custom PIDs and gauges I worked out on Torque Pro detailed HERE: https://www.f150forum.com/f4/final-r...4/#post5133357

Good luck.

i had a similar problem once. it ended up being the upstream O2 sensor. Might not hurt to check, and they're not too expensive.

Bad cam phaser. I had the same codes on my '05. Probably best to replace both, seeing as the whole front of the engine has to come apart. Might want to make certain all coils are good, too. I had a bad one. Cost of two cam phasers, one coil pack and labor: $1800 later, all is good. I'm told I got off cheap.

The 05s got some bad fuel injectors. One or more may be leaking on the rich side. Read these:
