07 F150 5.4 FX4 po430 and po305 codes

Hey everybody, ive been dealing with a few issues with my truck lately. First i had the po305 come up about 2 weeks ago. So i ran to oreillys and bought a new COP hoping that was it, but it wasnt. I changed spark plugs maybe 10,000 miles ago but checked them anyway and theyre all good. I tried swapping injectors from cylinder 5 and 6 hoping the problem would follow an injector.

3 or 4 days went by after clearing the code and swapping injectors before it threw a code. But this time it threw a camshaft position sensor bank 1. After replacing that and clearing the code, the truck didnt throw a code for another couple days. Now this morning it finally threw a po305 again and this time it also threw a po430.

I cleaned the throttle body and MAF sensor and that didnt seam to fix it either. What do you guys think my next step should be in diagnosing this?? Also, thanks for a great and informative forum.

Nathan

Be sure you got the driver side first/front cylinder as #5.
Check the cylinder compression next.
Misfire detection is based on crank rotation time so something is causing slower rotation time.
The 430 code is a Cat efficiency code for bank 2.
A way to verify is use a Scanner to look at the Ox sensor voltage output.
If is changes over a larger swing compared to bank 1, it is the cause of the code.
The Sensor looks at the Oxygen level in the exhaust that should be above a min level out of the last converter. The voltage variation now tends to follow the front sensor because the Cat is not working above a min level.
If the code is present too long, it will be ignored and possibly the CEL not on because the system ignores the code as not useful because it's an Emissions code not an engine performance code..
If you clear the codes it will come back on again on the next drive cycle.
You may need that side replaced.
Good luck.

Cop wires

Make sure your cylinder 5 cop wires are not damaged. Mine were routed under metal power steering fluid bracket and eventually one of the coil wires rubbed through the insulation and the wire corroded in half.
