Edge programmer 2007 f-150

Hello, I am thinking about putting an edge programmer in my 2007 super cab f-150 XLT. The truck is COMPLETELY stock other then the Goodyear duratrack tires I had put on last week. I was wondering if opening the engine up with a programmer would limit how long my truck will last. Also is there anything I should do to the truck in preparation to putting the programmer in it. Anybody have an f-150 they put one in awhile ago with some knowledge on the matter? Thanks guys!!!!!

I had a 2005 that I put an Edge on and then later got some mail order tunes that were an improvement over the Edge canned tunes. I put about 100,000 on it with the tunes and it was nothing but an improvement. If the new tires are different from stock, you need a tuner to change the tire ratio.

PHP is the ONLY company that does custom tunes for Edge, and only certain models.

I've had one on my 2008 FX4 for 6 or so years and love it. Resetting tire size and monitoring MAF is also a big plus. Don't put too much stock in the mpg number. It's typically 2 to 2.6 mpg on the high side. It is consistent though giving a good better or worse indication. I mostly use the tow and economy tune.

you didn't say what engine you have?

I had a 2004 with the 5.4 V8 - I installed the edge (maybe in 2005 or 2006) and ran it until I sold it in 2012

Its great (even with stock tunes, running level 1 or level 2) for giving it a little more power and (more importantly) fixing the shifting points. I used to hate the way it would struggle in high gear before downshifting, especially when driving in the city at like 40-45 MPH.

I had the very first Edge gas tuner back in about 2002, the program and remove type, Evolution?. When I bought my 01 Expedition it was no longer supported, so I upgraded to the next version, with push buttons and changeable lighting. Had an issue with the cord, which was known weakness, upgrade to the CTS. Love this thing, especially the gauges. Would like custom tunes, but they are not offered.
I am probably going to the SCT on my 2010 just to get the ability to get custom tunes. They offer the x4 which you can remove or ad a mount and leave it installed. They also have the TS which is similar to the Edge CTS. There are several solid programming companies doing custom tunes.
If you go the Edge route check out Power Hungry Performance and what the offer. They are supper people do some good work.

5.4 engine, MKOSU04 you are totally right with the shift points. It seams like it struggles to shift at times, I have to let of the accelerator at times to down shift.
