4 Wheel Drive Question

Hello, have another question about my 2006 F-150 STX v8 4.6L, it has 4wd but I am not sure if its part time or full time, when I place the shifter in 4hi the light comes on and says 4x4. I see other people say If its part time a light will come on saying part time is this true ? So is this truck full or part ? thanks

It's part time. You only put in four wheel drive when you are on slippery surfaces. Running on dry roads will wear the tires and drivetrain and can damage the system.

Part time.

2H = rear wheel drive
4H = 4 wheel drive direct drive transfer case
4L = 4 wheel drive low ratio transfer case

If it were full time it would have a 4A position.

And do not leave it in 4Hi or 4Lo on paved surfaces when you're making sharp turns.
