OK so this happened to me. 07 FX4 with the 5.4. A couple weeks ago I started my truck up and let it idle while I did a couple things, maybe 20 seconds. I started to drive off and didn't make it 100 feet before it started sputtering like it wasn't getting fuel. I pulled over and checked a few things. Got back into the truck and started it back up and it ran fine. Then today I left work and it did it again. I immediately shut it off and restarted the truck and it ran fine. What the heck is going on?

 

The fuel pump driver module, mounted above the spare would be the first thing I'd check.
