Bad fuel pump?

I have a 2005 XLT with the 5.4 running on custom tunes by PHP on a Gryphon programmer. I've been having long crank or hard start issues lately I think its the fuel pump but the dealer cant get it to repeat as its only doing it very sporadically. They told me it MAY be that it's dropping fuel and to turn the key to the on position a couple of times before cranking the motor and that should give me a better idea of what's happening. I have set my tuner to display the fuel rail pressure and over the past two weeks as I've turned the key to the on position the FRP has been drastically low 3 times. The first time it read 5-7, the second time was in the high teens and the third time was between 10-25. Usually the pump will fully prime on the first turn of the key but when it doesn't it takes 2 turns to the on position and on the third turn it will prime to 40-45 FRP. The computer is not throwing any codes for me or the dealer.. My question is whether or not I'm right and need to replace the fuel pump or if anyone else has had this issue and found it to be something else like a sensor or the injectors themselves..

Thank You

Check your Fuel Pump Driver Module, located on the cross member above the spare tire. It's a common problem with this generation truck. They corrode and crack.

Yep, I'll second the FPDM. It's been well documented many, many times on this site. 9 out of 10 times its the issue.

Unfortunately, there have been many that have wasted a lot of money on a new fuel pump when it's really the FPDM.

I can't believe that the dealer didn't check the FPDM.......
