I picked up a 05 f150 5.4 for my son. I drove it 45 minutes home. it was fine. it sat for a month and I went to get some tires put on it. I got a few miles up the road and it died. I hooked up the AE and got 2 codes. 1 was a cam sensor so I bought one from ford and it didn't help any. the other code is a p2004 imrc stuck open.

when I drive it and it switches from open to closed loop that's when it dies.

anybody been through this before?
do I need to buy the delete plates?

 

I'd trade it in on a good reliable Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla for your son. You're going to have nothing but trouble with that 05 so just cut you losses. It could be anything from the MAF to O2 censors. You'll burn through a ton of cash trying to figure it out. He won't be able to live out a Jason Aldean or Luke Bryan country song, but at least he will get to class on time.
