Question Engine difference betweem 04 4.6 New Style and 04 4.6 Heritage.

Looking to upgrade my air intake and need to make sure im buying the correct one.

Now my biggest concern is when I look at my local auto part stores they sell a K&N kit for the 2004 F150 4.6L Heritage. But mine is the new style '04, 4.6l, yadda yadda. What I want to know is are the engines the same?

Product links for reference:
Here is what K&N suggests on their site http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...x?prod=57-2557

What my local store suggests http://www.knfilters.com/search/prod...d=3060141&rw=1

A quick google search shows they look similar however I think one difference is the throttle body. I think on the Heritage the throttle body opening faces forward and on the newer style it faces up. Probably would be your only real difference. Also make sure you do your research on these. I'm not sure about the 4.6 but with the 5.4 putting a cold air intake on can actually cause too much air flow causing your computer to lean out the fuel too much and possibly blow the engine.

Save your money and do a snorkel mod to the stock airbox. A K&N does not help with anything except it looks and sounds cool.

Nope. The issue is with the MAF calibration. The intake doesn't flow one bit more air.
