Power sliding rear window harness ?
Power sliding rear window harness ?
Hey guys, new here.
I have a 04 Lariat Screw with moonroof and a manual slider.
The driver side corner glass got broken and I'm thinking I'm gonna replace it with a power unit to make it more practical/useable.
I've a a lot of reading on the subject and from what I can tell, the Lariat/FX4/King Ranch etc generally are pre-wired.
I got the overhead unit on eBay for the roof and slider switch. But when I went to put it in, I didn't see a extra plug.
Has anyone run Into this with a Lariat/FX4 etc?
Do you think the plug could be up behind the headliner somewhere and just wasn't routed into the unit?
Or are they not always pre-wired?
The truck has every other option.
Except the factory Sub/upgraded sound system and power slider.
Thanks in advance.

A Ford OEM would be your best bet if the wiring is there...if not, then perhaps check with a glass shop for a CL Lawrence Power Slider (they make them for Ford)...it should come with almost everything you need to install (wiring, switch). You may need Butyl Tape or Urethane...
FWIW! My truck is 10 years old...the Power slider crapped out almost 2 years ago...and that is after having one motor replaced under warranty...I almost wish I had a manual slider or solid back window...

Already have the switch.
When I put the switch in, I just didn't see a plug for it.
So was just wanting to know if Ford sometimes leaves it above the headliner and not route it into the housing?
Think I'll just remove the back seat and covers to check if there is a harness back there.
I don't like Safelite. Their glass seems to be inferior -- at least their windshield glass is.
I'd rather foot the bill for a piece of factory/oem glass versus Safelite.
If it was in a junker or something I didn't quite care about, Safelite would be perfect.
Just my opinion.

I always thought they used OEM.
In that case, i'll just get the OEM kit and have someone install it.
Thanks for the info!
Hey guys,
So I ordered the window kit from Fairlane Ford on eBay last year and had the window installed at the dealership. I yanked the rear seat and mounted the motor and routed the cables. Behind the seat was a factory harness with a plug that was just folded back with a piece of tape around it. Not plugged into anything. I hope I correctly assumed that plug is meant to plug into the window motor since it was routed right to the mount location. The plug didn't fit the motor but found out that the plug was changed around 08/09 IIRC. I clipped the plug and spliced on the one that came in the kit.
Since then I haven't touched it since I just haven't had the time. Anyway I want to get it finished. I'm assuming the other end of that factory harness must run to the front of the truck for power? Sound about right? As previously mentioned, I have the factory switch by the dome light. But don't see any harness. So I'm guessing I need a harness from the switch to somewhere, but don't know where?
