Looking to buy, need opinions

Hey guys. I'm looking to get back in to a f150, and this local one is looking pretty nice. I can get it for about 8000 or less. Just looking for your guys opinion and what I should look for or ask about. It seems like a pretty clean truck, and from the sound of it hasn't been beat. But just wondering some more experienced opinions on it before I pull the trigger. Thanks guys.

Seems ok but I would check why he put new fluid in the rear end... does it slip under power? and will possibly need a new diff. Also the hubs should've be done all together regardless of whether they both needed replacement because the pressure could escape out of the old one and cause a inconsistency in the 4wd and the new hub actuator should be replaced with the updated version from ford or dorman when the hubs are done. Did he change the plugs or did ford? Because the chances that he's just saying that he changed them because he knows that it's a huge problem and someone would love to not have to do it themselves and deal with that headache is pretty good. Hope this helps!

Well - you have to pull the diff cover to change the axle seals, so why put the old fluid back in? Fluid should be changed every 100k anyway.

Correct but this particular model of f150 (the new body style 04) is known for having Rear Differential Failure at around an average of 56,000 miles and an average repair cost of $1,246.00. I'm just saying be careful and don't let getting a new truck get you so excited on the test drive that you miss things, If its the Rear Diff. it will chop turning from a stop.

If by that you mean it shudders, that's limited slip clutches, and friction modifier should take care of it.

Looks like a good deal. Probably would be well worth the money to pay a mechanic to look it over. The ad didn't say whether it is a 4.6 or 5.4.

If I'm not mistaken, the 5.4 was the standard engine in the FX4 in 2004.

I'll second that, the 5.4 is the more desirable engine for the 04-08 style with the other 8 cylinder option being the well underpowered 4.6.

I'll take the underpowered 4.6 over the spark plug breaking 5.4 that has a history of VCT/cam phaser/cam chain tensioner/oiling system issues, thank you very much.

Hey I cant complain I had two and didn't have a single problem with either. I got all eight plugs out of both. If you keep it well maintained and keep a very close eye on oil change frequency your set with an engine that will run ya 250,000 miles.

There are quite a few owners and previous owners that have not had the same good luck as you - enough that I wouldn't own one.

That's very true. But there are thousands on top of thousands of these 04-08 trucks still on the road. Also folks really only visit these sites to post about the problems there having not how outstanding the trucks are.

I belong to several ford fourms and if I were to use these to pick which model I was to buy...lol. I wouldn't buy a Ford at all.

Looks to be a nice truck for the money. On that note I would only buy it if you're mechanically inclined or have deep pockets. I would want to see hard proof on the plug change.

I have a 07 5.4 3v that bought earlier this year and I regretted it the very next day. But I'm very handy and I'm dealing with the issues one by on. I've done plugs (12hrs), passenger manifold today (13hrs) next is the timing set but not needed right now.
