Bent Exhaust Valve-valve stem hole broken
I have an '06 f150 4x4 5.4L 3V. I bought it about a year ago fairly cheap. I had to put new phasers and vct's on it. One phaser actually had a broken spring. The truck had some knocking and ticking noises since I bought it. As I replaced phasers, I also decided to change out timing chain, oil pump and spark plugs. I found that the engine was out of time by a few teeth when I started. When I was done everything ran great. Noises were almost gone, the truck ran smooth and my fuel economy increased. Now I am back in it because I'm leaking oil from the #8 exhaust. I took valve cover off and found that the #8 exhaust valve was bent. The rocker and lash adjuster are fine but the valve stem was almost touching the side of the case. I took the head off and removed the valve. I found that the aluminum case where the valve stem seal pushes onto is broken. Is there a cure that doesn't involve buying a new head?
