Just bought 07 F150 with 4x4 problem

I know there are several post on this subject but no one has ever gave a clear answere to anyone with this problem.

Here it go's....I bought a 2007 F150 4x4 5.4 today and the 4wd will no engage. I can turn the switch to 4hi and I get the light and can here the click but the front axles are not locking up? I can put the truck in 4 low and the tcase goes in but again no 4x4. Where should I start?

Thank you

Since you can hear the t case shifting and 4 low works, it sounds like the front hubs are not engaging. Most likely cause is a bad IWE solenoid sticking and not dumping vacuum. Good news is the IWE solenoid is about 30 bucks and it's easy to change.

Thank you 05redFx4. Since posting I've done some extensive research and that's what I've come up with to. I have read it's either the solenoid or the IWE's on the wheels. I scored a really good deal on this truck since it had the 4wd issue and a leaky power steering return line ($27) these problems were quite dramatic during negotiations 😜.
