4x4 high dash indicator not working
4x4 high dash indicator not working
I know there is threads to this but it never got answered for the original question. I have a 07 FX4 Screw cab with the electronic shift on the fly system. The 4x4 high light on the dash only lights up when the key is turned to the on position. Once started and engaged into 4x4 high the light either flashes for a second and turns off or never turns on at all. To my understanding this system is also suppose to be able to engage while moving or in drive for that matter, mine only engages when switched to neutral and not moving. Hope for any answer, nothing more annoying then being off-road and guessing if it's in 4x4. Thanks in advance

No. My 4x4 high light only comes on when the key is turned to the on position but does not come on at all when engaged but the 4x4 low light does. I also have to be in nuetral and not moving to even engage either of the two
You shouldn't have to put the transmission into Neutral to shift into 4Hi. (You will have to in order to get into 4Lo though.) In fact you should be able to shift into 4Hi at speeds up to 55 MPH.
How often do you use 4 wheel drive? The reason I ask is that the ESOF motor that shifts the Transfer Case has a bad habit of getting lazy or crapping out all together if you don't use it somewhat regularly. Yours would appear to be at least partially working of you can get into 4Lo.
Have you tried putting the truck up on jack stands or a lift to see what's actually happening (or not) when you try to shift into 4Hi and 4Lo?
