driveshaft slip yoke issue

So I after my truck making all the wrong noises I went ahead and replaced the staked in universal joints. However when I was installing the new ujoint I knocked off what I think is some kind of dust cover off of the slip yoke. It was just held on with a rubber ring, not really a ring cuz it was just a sting of a seal, anyways now I cant get it back on any ideas?

I think that the rubber has expanded over the years and a new seal may be needed. Anyone know the part number?

I don't think that's an aftermarket item, go to a Ford dealer or call Tasca. Your VIN will be needed.

ya I talked to the dealer, they said none of those components were sold separately. Then once the parts guy understood what I was talking about he told me to leave it off. Im gonna throw it all back together in a bit here and worst case scenario I'll tack weld it this weekend if it makes any difference.

Maybe a driveshaft shop might have them?

Well I found out what it is, its called a harmonic dampener. Its meant to dampen any noise the shaft makes while in operation. Driveshaft shops generally don't reinstall them when they make any adjustments to the shaft.

Its off now so problem solved.
