05 5.4 transmission hesitation

Only does it when it warms up. Changed the filter and fluid, has 107k on it. Also has " shudder " when it shifts to OD. WTF Added bottle of Lucas Smooth Shift that has helped but curious as to what is causing hesitation when changing direction.

If all you did was drop the pan, you only got 1/3 of the old fluid out. Go get a complete fluid exchange with a machine with Mercon V, not universal fluid. Get that Lucas crap out of there.

Sounds kinda like mine..... overdrive started to act weird. Then got worse, the truck would almost stall, like dragging itself down while coming to a stop.

Check ball #7 in the valve body split in two and one piece was floating around causing havoc. Did a rebuild of the valve body with a few upgrades and it feels great now!

The shudder when it goes into overdrive might be a misfire...my 05 did that for a while...

I swore it was the transmission. The dealer did a couple of TSB's on the transmission, but they didn't help. They finally tracked it down to a misfire on cylinder 3...replaced coil and it went away.

There are alot of other posts on here for same symptoms with the same resolution. I hope you are able to get it fixed. The particular misfire did not give a code that my reader would catch...it took the dealer's more advanced diagnostics to catch it.

Regards!
