Please Help ID Vacuum Hose

Hi Everyone,

It's been a long time since I've posted, but I ran into an issue today changing spark plugs. The plug change went great, but right before I started I accidentally broke a vacuum line. I tried tying my PCM cables out of the way, and as soon as this hose moved 1-2" it just snapped in half. The truck was off, of course, when this happened, and I heard air bleed off for a few seconds.

It's the one highlighted yellow with red tape on it (see the red arrow). I've tried looking through my manual & browsing pictures on the internet....but thus far no luck. I'm not a vacuum guy by any means. The best description I can give is that it comes over from the driver's side (large canister) as a larger tube. Right near the white zip tie it reduces down to a small (~1/8"OD) tube that runs behind the battery.

It doesn't seem to affect startup at all, and the truck idles fine. The part number tagged on it is 4L34-19C828-AC.

Any ideas what it is? If so, how easy/hard would it be to replace?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Don't know what it is, but you ought to be able to splice something in there to fix it without having to rerun the whole line.

I'd guess it has something to do with the HVAC or the 4wd.

Thanks, glc. It looks like you're right--it's a vacuum hose for the IWE system. I have a temporary fix in place but will try something more permanent.

Hi mblouir, I have recently just broke that same vacuum line and was wondering how you fixed it. I have researched that part number but haven't been able to find a correct part. Thank you!

I had carefully superglued it back together to hold me over.

It bought me enough time to find a replacement through the dealer, which took a couple of days. I'll see if I can find the assembly I had to buy.

Found it!

Double-check that this fits your vehicle, but I recall needing to purchase this small assembly. You'll have to remove the battery to gain access to the vacuum reservoir, but it's not a difficult replacement. Leave the old one in and remove the battery. You'll see exactly where it needs to go.

From this high-level assembly, you need the one called out in red (that the original image notes with a dot). It consists of the line plus a few fittings:

Which should be this sub-assembly right here:

Hope this helps!
