ABS Light

Hello,
Has anyone heard of any known wire chafing or breakage problems to the rear abs speed sensor?? I just replaced my sensor and I am still getting a code telling me its that rear sensor. Also, does anyone know if jumping the pins on an abs sensor connector would turn the light off if that sensor is faulty.
My ohm meter is broken and I just want to jump the connectors in the front to rule out a front sensor being bad if jumping them indeed works.
Thanks

Howdy.

No - jumping the connectors on the ABS sensors will not work - that would just be interpreted as another fault condition.

Please post the exact code(s).

good luck

I know the problem... and its code C1230 ..you know rear speed sensor circuit fault...
But with a new sensor... I know its the wiring.... I honestly don't even care is abs works... I am just stopping the light to get inspected... I might even pull the bulb in the cluster if I cant figure it out it time.... cause its too cold and snowy to work. Because I know they guy will not scan it if there is no lights and lii get my sticker that way.
I was just tring to do the "right thing" first lol...hell. as long as I have an inspection sticker I wouldent even care if the breaks faild completely... I have snowbanks to stop until spring..

It might just be that input on the ABS module as well, and not the wiring. Pull the connector, inspect, clean and re-seat. If you can get the pinout, you can determine the integrity of the harness to the rear with a DVM.

The wiring bundle to the rear is purty well-protected. Don't see it chafing myself - perhaps FOD from the road, mods, repair work, etc ..

A good shop (or dealer) can diagnose the module & module I/O definitively to zero in on the actual root cause.

good luck

I've got an ABS fault as well that ONLY shows up on first start-up on COLD (sub-40 degree) mornings. Once I've driven a few miles, I can restart the truck and the ABS-trouble light disappears. No clue what causes it and I have replaced the rear sensor once about 10K miles ago. I don't have anything to read my codes with, but the rear sensor always seems to be the most likely culprit. Is your light on constantly?

yes mine is always on ...how do you "reset" the truck? just by driving?
Where is the the ABS module?? are they known for going bad or corrosion?
I thought I saw the pinout on here somewhere. since the sensors are simply sending small pulses, I wonder if I could splice into the wire of a sensor that is working and fool the abs into thinking the rear one is also working.

^^^ Won't work.

Module is attached to the ABS actuator in the passenger compartment. , driver-side under the intake. Has a bunch of hard brake lines coming from it. Big-ayss connector.

with the older trucks you could just unplg the modual / rabs and it would kill all the abs lights..... do you know if this is true on the 2005 trucks?

this link should show the pinout

if I had my gararge buit already this would be a non issue and solved... its just its dark when I drive to work and dark when I get home... and its always sub zero all winter... so I don't have a place to work or spot to work in....
end of the summer I will have my gararge done, my tire machine / balancer and my lif in there... and be warm when I am working!!!! can not wait... it will be like retirement to me
