4x4 actuators (iwe)

I'm new to the site. I recently have found out that my 4x4 actuators are bad on my 06 f150. Does anyone have a brand that they recommend? I'm thinking dorman.

My experience with Dorman parts has been 100% bad. If you want cheap parts though, they're tough to beat. I went with Ford OEM replacements.

BTW, you'll find about a million posts on IWE / four wheel drive issues if you search here. What they will show you is that the IWEs rarely go on their own. There's a Solenoid that controls them that generally goes first - eventually taking out the IWEs.

Agree with 2stroked. My IWEs would occasionally engage partially on their own. Would have to shift into 4hi and back to 2wd to get them to disengage. Changed out the solenoid on the firewall and haven't had a problem since.
