replacing parts to end ticking

I am replacing all my parts on heads cam phasers timing chains and guides, lifters, rocker arms, timing solenoids. Now the big question is should i buy factory ford parts or after market parts. Getting tired of the ticking noise it has to be doing damage in the engine

Before you do all that make sure you check your crankshaft with a dial indicator to see if it is walking back and forth from what ia have heard going through my own experience ford would condem these engines under warranty with anything more then 8 thou walking back a forth the reason being that they wont buil enough oil pressuse to oil the top end dont pay attention to ht efactory dash oil pressure guage either because they are not even close to accurate before you spend the money and go through the pain of that check the crank if it checks out(dial indicator and the pry on crank pulley to see movement). If the crank checks out than yes use genuine ford replacement timing components (phasers ,guides ,chain ect) but if it doesnt there is an outfit in skowhegan maine and he remanufactures a lot of these motors and for around 3000 plus shipping and core charge he will send you a reman engine with updated ford timing components and 40 000 mile warranty.Again if the crank doesnt check out you wont gain a thing by changing all that stuff because it will quiet it down for awhile but the noise will return pretty quick. These 5.4 3 valves are awful when they mess up I have had 2 trucks with this motor the first went to 300k no problems until it hit a tree and the next one got to 70k then started with this foolishness good luck

And the Dorman parts are failing within weeks or months ..

Dorman phaser after one month:

BTW - the OEM parts have all been redesigned to address known failure modes for the most part.
