Headers, Headers BLAH!
I'm a full time employee, and college student, and fortunately for me, I have the summer off from school, and I'm only working. So, I thought I'd do some things to my truck, a 2004 Ford F150 Lariat, 4wd.
At the beginning of June, I ordered a set of Pacesetter Ceramic coated long tube headers. I double checked the part number on Pacesetter's website, and ordered them from Amazon Prime. I also ordered Ford Gaskets, and stage 8 locking header bolts.
I get the parts in, and pull everything apart after a week of spraying manifold studs with PB Blaster. I was fortunate to remove all studs without them breaking. The LH header installed perfect, but the RH, well, my friend, is another story. After a week of questioning my mechanical inclination, I gave up and called Pacesetter. Over the next two days, I was told that there was a problem with the RH header line, and that there was no quick answer, or resolution, and to send them back. So I did, and I ordered OBX long tube headers on June 20.
WELLLLLLLLLLL I get them in last night, and today, i test fit the passenger side first. BAM, it's in there! It looks good, but I didn't bolt it up. Thank goodness. Driver side wouldn't fit because of the drive shaft from the transfer case to the front axle. I ASSume I've ordered the wrong part from racingpartsdepot.com, and double check. I had ordered the right item, and the shipping box even stated 2004 Ford F150 5.4 3v 4wd. But this header was clearly for a 2wd model.
I tried and tried calling racingpartsdepot.com to no avail. OBX has only a fax number listed on their site, so I googled and found a number on a BBB complaint site, and hoped it worked. IT did.
The gentlemen on the phone told me that they "made a boo boo." Yes, I'm quoting him, exactly, and put the wrong headers in the wrong box, and that they were clearly for a 2wd, not 4wd, and that I should return them for a refund. So I pulled them off, and tried calling RPD.com AGAIN, and can't get anyone to answer still yet. I've left an email via their webiste and paypal, perhaps I'll hear something.
I do believe tomorrow, I'll re-install my stock manifolds, and let my fantasy of headers die along with the soul my ex wife took.
On the bright side, I changed my spark plugs and COP's today. Only four broke. Yay.
Hope you are ALL well,
izzy

has 45 days passed since you ordered the second set of headers ?
if not go back through pay pal complaints & try for getting your money back
that should get a responce from the place that sold them to you - and / or your money back
pay pal will usually side with the buyer

I hope you're right, Fords. I bought them the 20th, received them the 26, and tried to install them the 27th. I filed the pay pal thing this morning.
I will say, that Amazon, was amazing. As soon as they received the conformation that my return was shipped, they issued a refund.

pay pal worked for me the one time I had an issue - I've bought at least 100 things useing pay pal and I only ever had an issue with one purchase
it took about a week for them to decide they were not going to hear from the seller too and they issued me the refund for the item that was never shipped
the seller had good rep on ebay - he messaged everyone later - or someone did for him - he had been in hospital with brain cancer so his bicycle parts shop was going to be no more
but I've had two fails useing just the credit card to buy on line so it's pay pal only from now on
