Which truck do I have?

Just bought a 2005 f-150 XL 5.4l 3V. Is it considered a 4 door or 3 door? Extended cab, crew cab or whatever else it is called? VIN tool say my vin is not a valid number so no help there.

Thanks

Hi dvo1,

That would be an Extended Cab (also sometimes Supercab, or SCab), 4 door, Styleside (straight box, as opposed to Stepside box).

It's also a pain to park in a shopping center, I bet. I would've loved to had an 8-foot box on my truck, but no long "real" work bed for the "sporty" STX lol

Mine's an 8' box too, and yeah it can be a pain but I've gotten used to it. Find I sometimes park farther away from the doors and enjoy the walk though The worst is fast food drive thru lane turns, feels like they are made for compact cars half the size of the truck.

After getting the 8' bed I found the payload is less than that of the shorter beds. That's a kicker. Sorta figured longer bed, haul more, bigger payload. Nope, same payload across the styles and the longer bed weighs more, so less capacity. Seems counter intuitive to me

You could get 8' in STX in the 10th Gen trucks.... link

I've even seen a Extended cab 8' STX 10th gen as well. Must have been special order truck.....

Thanks all, was having trouble looking for parts not knowing what the trim was. As you can tell it's my first f-150. With the trim figured out I found out that it is the HD version with the 7 lug. Kinda bum about that. Was hoping to put the other f-150 alloys on it to pretty her up. Ford engineers should be lined up and shot!

At 15 mpg, no mall trip with this puppy unless at gunpoint.

Payload sticker says 2225lb or something like that. Isn't that a lot for a f-150?

The HD package is basically an F250 in a F150 body

Hmmm, thanks Patman....

I guess it was, never saw a Longbed Reg/SuperCab STX before, but I have a buddy with a 99 XLT like that so I knew they existed. Wonder if there were any special-order 11th gen trucks? Anybody out there have one?

The 09+ heavy duty payload pack finally had 7 lug alloys available and the will bolt right on. Not the greatest looking wheel, but better than the stamped steelies you have now. I believe they were 18"

My work truck is a F250 crew cab with long bed. That thing is a land yacht! I'm always parking in the far part of the parking lot.
