What year motor and transmission will work?

Hi all, I am looking at purchasing a 2005 f150 2wheel drive 4.2 v6 for 1500. The body is in great condition but the transmission is bad. The truck currently has 250,000 miles on it, and we found a 4.2 v6 and transmission out of a 2002 f150 that have 120,000 miles on them for 500.
My question is: can I swap the 05 motor and transmission for the one out of the 2002 with out any problems? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

There are going to be issues. The 2002 has cable throttle, the 2005 is electronic. Transmissions (assuming automatic) aren't exactly the same. I would look for a combo out of a 2005-2008.

As glc stated.

I would personally, go out and find a rebuilt engine and transmission with a warranty.

Sounds like you found a good deal, that if you take your time and do a little more research, will yield you some awesome results, and give you a long lasting dependable truck.
