Leveling Kit install?

Hey!

So anyone out there that is NOT a certified Mechanic install their leveling kit on there 04 f150's?

My mechanic is swamped, he was suposed to get it done for me today but now i either have to wait until next saturday for him to install it or put it in myself...i know my way around my truck but have never installed a leveling kit before.

Should i attempt it or wait... im way to impatient....haha

What kind of Leveling kit do you have? Its a fairly simple install. Most garage mechanics can do this in an afternoon.

First thing do you have all the tools? Second get someone to help makes life easier. Third don't rush.

Its not hard to do, also you will need an alignment afterwards.

Edit how much is he charging for the install? If it isnt much like 200 I would let him do it... Lol

It isn't hard to do at all. If I can do it...OMG..You CAN DO IT..lol!!! Make sure you got the tools though. I used compressor tools which made everything that was bolted a hell of a lot easier. Did both sides in a couple of hours. And yes..have a second person to help.

As for alingnment...I needed CAM bolts..which I went to 4wheelparts. That part I paid for..but other than that..the level kit is gravy!!

It's basic. It's basically the same work involved as putting new shocks in, but even less. I did mine in my driveway with my dad, not too bad at all. Second set of hands definitely helps, but a member just did his by himself the other day. I needed another set of hands for sure haha.

Well we put it in last night! Took about 4 hours with some beer breaks. And dinner. Truck sits like I want but how long can I wait for an alignment??? Like can I make an appointment for mid next week and be okay?

The sooner the better, it doesn't take long to grid up tires when your out of alignment.

Time doesn't matter, it's mileage. I wouldn't drive more than 50 miles on it before aligning it. So it depends how much you drive each day. Alignments are quick though.

Congrats on the install though!

I took it to Ford to do an alignment .... they typically can do it same day and it was like $100 bucks

I would call your local Ford Dealer
