Transmission Fault/Flat Towing

After slowing to make a turn I notice the truck rev up and not make any power. So I managed to coast into a friends driveway. Once coming to a complete stop it will no longer move forward. Checked the fluid which is OK and I now have "Trans Fault" and P0722, P0722 Output shaft speed sensor failure.

I think I need a new tranny. It was re-built Dec 2010. And only about 30'000Km ago..

Unless the OSS sensor could cause this condition? Or more likely is the mechanical failure making the truck think it's a sensor failure??

Also, To get it back home I'd need to tow it about 10Km. I know your not supposed to flat tow these but would it be OK for this distance? Would it be any benefit to have the engine running (other than of course having brake vacuum.)

Thanks
