Moving from leveling kit to lift kit!!

Currently I have a 2.5" ready lift leveling kit on my truck. I am wanting to remove the leveling kit and go with a bds 6" suspension. Currently with the 2.5" I have almost exactly 5" of clearance from my garage door. The bds will be 6" front and 5" rear. I'm apparently not smart enough to figure this math so I'm looking for some assistance. Does anyone know how much more my cab height will raise by installing the 6" lift and removing the leveling kit.

Rough guess with out knowing the height of your truck before the level, I would say you would add 3.5" to your height now and that would put you in the ballpark. Now that doesn't account for the larger tires that always come after the lift.

What he said^. Roughly 3.5" higher from the lift, depending on tires if you bump from say a 33 to a 35" you'll add another inch. For tires it's just half of the difference between the two.

I already have 35" tires with 20" rims currently and still have almost 5" clear from garage so I guess from what you guys are saying another 3.5" and I will still be clear. How are you coming up with the 3.5"? I know it will raise the front 3.5, but currently the rear has no lift and will be raised 5" with the BDS kit. Won't that add more to the height if the cab also. That's where I'm curious of the difference.

Thanks for the responses

With the info given all we can do is guesstimate. But basically 6" minus 2.5" leaves you with 3.5" which is how I came up with that number.

Now lets delve a little deeper, shall we. Most all suspension lifts level out the truck and the amount of lift advertised is always based on a bone stock suspension. So regardless of what they say the back amount of lift is, your truck should be level so basically the 5" you stated is a non factor for guessing how much clearence you will have after the lift. Now this info is only correct if you do not crank the coil overs or add a spacer up front or change the rear block or add an add a leaf. basically you have to install the kit as intended.

Now for the level kit you have, more often than not, level kits are not dead on for lift amount advertised. There are many factors that come into play, spring wear, ball joint wear, placement of the level kit (top of coil over assy or inside coil over) and material used for make the kit (steel, aluminum, or poly)

Based on the info at hand, you should be OK to fit in your garage with a 6" kit.
