installing oil pressure gauge

To all that have check oil pressure with an after market gauge, what did you do to get the fittings or sensor installed? I to a quick look at ours and I can't get my hand into the sensor because of the front diff & motor mount. I want to check the oil pressure on ours because we have the knocking, stalling at idle after warm, & code P0340. Since we got it the week before Thanksgiving, I have replaced the plugs, fpdm, vct solenoids, cam sensor, crank sensor, fuel filter, oil & filter. The stalling at idle after warm started like someone flipped a switch (not sure what happened). I have been told and read the knocking is the cam phasers.

I got this done temporarily to check oil pressure. I used a long extension and a swivel to take out the factory oil pressure sensor and instal the fitting for the mechanical gauge. To tighten the line i reached up in front of the diff getting my fingers & wrench behind the filter drip tray. Had to keep flipping the wrench around to get the line tight. The I ran the line inside through the plug in the firewall to the outside behind the exhaust.

Your code indicates Camshaft Position Sensor Circuit Malfunction.

You may have a sensor that has gone bad, or a plug that has come undone...

Very strange you say something about the stalling and knocking like ticking at idle when coming to a stop from riding on highway or something, that is how mine acts and it seems for no reason, it did not do this till i changed my cam phasers, and timing chains, but i rev the engine and it goes away if you figure it out please let me know

I have replaced the passenger side cam sensor & the crank sensor but nothing changed. I took the original cam sensor from the passenger side and put it on the drivers side and nothing changed. I did do and ohm check on the cam sensor wires to the negative battery terminal, checked ok. I did a voltage check and that checked ok. The rough idle / stalling happened like some one flipped a switch. It was raining and really wet the day this started. Any help you can give to do more wiring checks would be helpful.

I have read where similar rough idle and stalling was caused by one of the cams being out of time by 1 tooth. I have not pulled the timing cover to find out. I don't have a garage to work in and didn't get the cam phasers, tensioners, and guides yet.

If we rev it, the knocking goes away. At the current time I have a cam sensor unplugged so we can drive it without it stalling.

If I figure it out, I'll certainly let you know. If you figure it out, please let me know.

I did cam phasers, tensioners, guides, and chains over the last few days. Seems to have fixed the knocking and rough idle / stalling at stops. We had a bad tensioner and a phaser that had fallen apart after it was removed (both on passenger side). Oil pressure has gotten better.
