New paint & LED light bar, bye bye two tone.

Hey everyone, I've been around the site looking for a long time, but decided recently to join. I traded for a Texas Edition 2005 F150 XLT 4x4 Extended cab. The truck came with TONS of chrome stuck on with 3M Tape and some damage on passenger side. I got tired of looking at the scratches from removing the chrome, the tan, and the damage. I got a few estimates and ended up paying $1200 to get the bottom painted black, damage fixed, and the truck buffed and waxed. I feel like it was a good deal.

I also have been looking at the LED light bars. I found one on Amazon in 20" and decided to order it. I LOVE IT, very easy install. I work as a police officer, just the small LED take downs make a lot of light in our light bars, but nothing like this. I recently drove to Indiana in a lot of snow and it was really nice n the country back rounds. Here are the pictures of the light bar and the before, during, and after pics.

Looks good and much better all black. What light bar and switch did you go with? A 20" in the same spot is on my list in the very near future.

That looks good and way better all black! I was one step away from buying a black XLT with tan two tone and I would've had to have that painted over like you. I was pissed at the time, but now I'm glad it had unreported frame damage so I didn't have to have that painted

What bracket did you use to mount it?

I used the brackets that came with it. I had it all installed within a matter of an hour. Super easy

How did the bracket mount to your bumper? I've been thinking about putting a light bar in that exact same spot, maybe going with a 30".

If you look in the gap there are two flat pieces of metal that face you. I just drilled through those, and ran the bolt in it.

The frame horns are different on the 04-05s than the 06-08s. We have to cut an inch or two off of our frame to fit a bar down there. That's part of why the bumpers changed and aren't truly interchangeable.

Looks a lot better. I'm not a fan of two tone also. Any nightime pics with the LED light bar turned on? Just curious about it's brightness. I like the Rigid's but they are quite expensive.

Looks much better all black... Have you thought about blacking out the bumpers too?

I like it. Too many cars/trucks dong the "murdered out" look. The chrome bumpers/handle pulls help set off the bit of chrome on his wheels. I can't say as though I disliked the two-tone he had from the factory, but I prefer the bumpers be PTM with the two-tone color (a la King Ranch).
