5 min. trips

06 5.4 supercrew 4x4 auto. Just curious on thoughts. Wife has a new job not 5 min. from house. We live in a winter climate, any harm in short trips, 4 to 5 min. to work never warms up truck. Any harm to truck, any precautions we should take. Thanks

Yes. Take it out every weekend and get it fully warmed up and blown out.

Let the truck fully warm up. Stop / start on such short trips never allow it to lubricate properly...

its too dangerous for the truck - just buy her a warm coat and hat and tell her to walk!

You will probably see a lot of condensation build up under the oil cap. Its rough on the truck but it won't kill it in the long run.

I used to live about 6 miles from work and I'd go to school less than a mile away in the evenings (I'd drive due to busy roads and dark of night) and I would always get a white slime buildup on the oil cap.

This was with my 2004 5.4L
