Considering this truck

Hey guys i'm wanting to get out of my Ranger and into a F150. What do you think of this truck and what would a fair price be for it? http://mikecarpinoford.com/Pittsburg...ruck/23034008/

Good truck, but it's priced at full retail book. That's not a fancy truck, it's a 2wd 4.6 STX extended cab with a 5.5' bed. Private party book on it is in the high 7's, tradein value is in the low 6's.

Hard to say without doing a mechanical inspection of the truck. However the body looks pretty good. Drivers seat is in need of some help, but that is to be expected with the mileage. Not sure from the photo, but it looks like the rear bumper has a smallish dent on the left of the plate...

I bought my '04 when it was 2 years old so I am hard pressed to tell you value on them now. But I suspect that price is a little high. I would expect 4wd on a 10 year old 100K truck for what they are asking... But that is me, and that is from a coastal Texas perspective... Your market may vary.

The truck you are looking at, going from kbb.com would book out at $7885.00 in my market.

Did you click the same link I did? I saw a 2wd Arizona Beige XLT with a 6.5 foot box. And no mention of engine displacement aside from it being a V8. Due to it being an XLT I assumed a 5.4L.

The truck looks great. If it has the options you want, try to make a deal. Can't beat the 4.6 engine for reliability. If you want it, offer less. Should be some fat in the price. And I believe the SCAB has a 6.5' bed, not 5.5'. The 5.5' bed is what the SCREW has.

I ran the VIN. It's a STX Scab with a 4.6 and 5.5' bed. Retail book in this area (I'm only 40 miles from that dealer) is $9936, private party and tradein as already posted.

Nice to see a local guy on here. If it's a STX wouldn't the interior look different?

IDK if it's just the lighting but there are some wicked color changes between the rear passenger side bed and the rear door as well as front passenger fender and front door.

Have you actually gone over there and looked at the truck? I'm going by VIN, not the pics. It's possible the VIN decoder on this site is incorrect.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/vi...X12W04NA65188+

Maybe I'm reading it wrong - there's a dropdown box that has XL, STX, and XLT, with both 5.5' and 6.5' bed lengths....... I guess I didn't go far enough, apparently the VIN isn't that specific.

If it is in fact a 6.5' XLT, that adds about $1k to the book prices.

It is definitely a 6.5'. Also definitely a 4.6 as they had the 15/19 mpg while the 5.4 was 14/18. How many miles on the truck? I did not see it listed on the site. If high, I would question the price as too high. What work has been done on it. Plugs replace? If not, I would tell them to do it before you would buy as the plugs can be a big problem if they snap. Same with any other scheduled maintenance.

Sounds a bit high for that many miles. Definitely make sure the plugs have been done. Otherwise you could end up with a bill for thousands to do them. Especially if they break and cannot be taken out with a Lisle tool.

Edit - Now I see the miles. They sure do use small print for that.
