Silverstars in reverse lamps with pic

Changed out all of the exterior bulbs on my truck. Did Silverstar Ultra for headlights and Long Life for side marker and turn signal.

In the rear I went with Long Life for the tail lights and the 3rd brake light. I don't feel Silverstars are needed for that application seeing as the LL are obviously bright enough for other drivers to see and since I always drive with my park lights on during the day, the tails are constantly lit and I don't need them burning out in a year. Plus, adding extra light only seems necessary if it's actually helping me see. Adding Silverstar bulbs in any other application seems pointless. I've read about people even putting them in their tag lamps.

The part number for the tail light and reverse lights are both 4057. You'll notice there is not a Silverstar available in that number. I cross referenced 3157 for the Silverstar which has the same base and wire contacts.

Anyway, here's a comparison. Taken with my iPhone 5S, but added a filter to help show the difference, which ended up making it very grainy.

Silverstar on the left, Long Life on the right.

Cool! I didn't even know Silverstar made non-headlight bulbs

Ps this is an actual test of a brand new Silverstar vs a brand new Long Life. I put one of the new LL bulbs I got for the taillight in the right reverse to get an actual difference. Not a 5 year old worn out bulb vs new.

FYI, the correct part number is actually 3156 as you only need a single filament build for reverse (obviously). 3157 is dual filiment for the tail light.

I put the dual filament in by mistake but it doesn't matter. It simply only uses the brighter of the two filiments.

So many part numbers for bulbs haha.

You can say that again! I FINALLY got all my part numbers written down to do my interior, cargo, and license plates with the help of some of the guys on here. Decided to leave that mod for Santa to bring me though haha
