Suggestions for my 2005 F150 FX4

I have a 2005 F150 FX4 with a 2 inch front leveling kit and 305/65R18 BFG AT TA/KO tires on stock 17 inch wheels. I love my truck but I look at it sometimes and think that it just isn't there yet. Does anybody have any suggestions on what to add to give it that stance that it needs. I was thinking about adding a 2 or 3 inch lift. Help!

You already have a 2" leveling kit, do you mean you want to add a 4-6" lift instead of the leveling kit? And what stance are you looking for?

Anything over a level and you gotta go full suspension lift or body lift. Might as well just go suspension because of how labor intensive a body lift is on our trucks. Smallest "real" lift is 4", and you might as well go 6". Have you seen any other trucks that you like to compare to?

I think a 4 or 6 inch lift would be a little much. I saw a picture of a truck similar to mine with 33" tires and a pro comp 3 inch lift. That looked perfect. Should I take off my level and put on the pro comp lift or can you do both?

3" isn't a good idea. It'll eat up your ball joints, tie rod ends, and cv axles. I'd stick to 2.5" and down for leveling kits.

i looked at the picture of your truck and it looks good to me. i was never really happy running that wide of tire on the fx4 wheels so i swapped wheels. and i personally dont like the look of the bfg at sidewall.

if it were my truck i would look into some aftermarket rims that are a little wider with a medium to low offset. it will push the wheels out and give it a whole new look. and i dont know what look youre going for, but the bump up to 20s from 18s was the key for my truck.

as far as the lift/level listen to everyone above me. dont touch a thing unless you plan on buying new wheels/tires and a 6 inch suspension lift. which btw is going to run you over 4k when its all said and done...

A 4" lift would only be 2" higher than what you have currently, which is what you want. A 3" level (because it's not actually a lift) just destroys the front end. A 4" lift would be just one tiny inch over that, which looks better and is a proper lift that puts all of the CV shafts and balljoints at good angles. The lift will pay for itself by the time you're done chewing through front ends with a 3" level haha.

All of Deacons points are great too. And I don't think we can get 4" (or 6") lifts that are compatible with stock wheels anymore; only Rancho had one that worked.

Thanks for all the advice so far. If I were to get after market wheels that were wider (mine are currently 18x7.5) would I need to get new tires as well??

Well for those tires the only rim diameter would be 18", and you could go about 10" wide on the wheel.

For those 305/65/18s, you can get only an 18" diameter wheel (that's what the last number means). I see that you said 17" wheels in your first post, but you can't mount your tires on a 17" wheel, so something is off. Do you have 18" wheels instead?

Then the wheels can be anywhere between probably 8 or 8.5 - 10" inches wide (they'll wear more evenly with a bit more width than stock), which includes almost all over them

I meant 18 in my original post. Instead if getting new wheels, what can you tell me about wheel spacers to make them wider?

spacers require constant monitoring to make sure they are tight. i run them on a car of mine, but it gets driven only ~100 miles a month. other users on here (lakemarykid) run them with zero issues, but like i said, constantly torquing them is key.

as far as rims, youd have to stick with an 18 with those tires, and you could do anything from 8-10 inches wide. to really change the look i would go for something close to a 0 offset. too high of an offset like +18 wont really push the rim outward, and too low offset like -44 will cause serious rubbing.
