Steering wheel audio control

Dumb question, but I have a 2007 xlt, it has the 6 disc with the factory sub. I'm wondering if any of the higher models came with the steering wheel audio controls. If they did, has anyone tried adding them to their truck? Can I find one, run the wires, and possible plug them directly to the factory radio or no?

Any thoughts? I'm trying to leave this truck alone for the most part but I've become accustomed to these control in my car.

Also has anyone ever heard of a lub or something for a sticking window, I'm sure the motor needs to be replaced, but just wondering. The drivers side has a difficult time going up.

Did you ever try this? I was thinking of replacing my '05 standard steering wheel with the upgraded one that has the audio controls also. But, I have no idea if I can make it work or not. I was hoping someone on here might know, but given you got no response, I am kind of worried.

I upgraded my '05 6-disc with a stock navi out of an '07. I got some stock steering wheel controls out of donor truck at a local salvage yard. My factory radio harness has to be wired to accept the controls (which shouldn't be too hard with the diagram). If it doesn't work, I'll have to pay to have my navi programmed to recognize the new controls (some stock radios have to come programmed to do so). Hopefully I'll have it done this upcoming weekend and let you know how it works out for me.

How did you make out with this? Should need to connect the two wires from the clock spring to pins 18 and 19 on the 24 pin connector behind the radio.

Dropped my truck off last weekend for a phaser/timing chain job and still dont have it back due to some technicalities (4 seized bolts on the front cover).

I should have it back on Monday... I already have my reprogrammed navi back from the audio shop ($99 for steering control function and "line in" input addition)... I still have to pull my steering wheel to add the new botton's and then run the 2 wires from the clockspring connector (pins 3 & 5) to the main radio harness (pins 18 & 19)

I'll def update once i get my truck back...

I installed a Lariat steering wheel on my '05 XLT. It was really simple. However, I also installed a new head unit at the same time. I used the Pac Swi-cp5 adapter. It has an interface that allows you to set the buttons' functions using your laptop, tablet, or smart phone (though I suggest using your laptop)

You basically have to add 2 wires that run from under the steering wheel and connect to the PAC adapter. Then program the buttons and you're done. It really wasn't hard at all. Well, there is one little thing and that is one of the two wires has to be connected to the white with red stripe wire on the adapter and that wasn't in the instructions.

If you start to actually do it, and my setup is close you what you're wanting to do, I would be glad to give you more detailed information. Just let me know.

Thanks I have a Alpine Ive-535W in my truck now might switch to a pioneer NEX. I'm going to look for the controls now didn't want to buy it to find out it wouldn't work.

Just saw your last question... I got everything on the truck done. Stock navi, auto AC control, message center, full steering wheel control... all stock components... If you have the wiring diagrams and a little patience, you can pretty much do anything to these trucks.....
