Rim help..
 

I'm looking at getting a set of 20s with 33s for my 06 with a 2" level. I'm looking at either 20x9 with +18mm offset and a 5.74 backspace or 20x9 with 0mm offset and 4.5 backspace. I'm looking at doing the 0 offset ones but how far will they stick past the fender? I would like them to stick like an inch or two but no more! I talked to the wheel shop selling the rims and the guy said the 0 offset will stick out an inch is that true? I know the +18mm set will be like stock and not stick out at all.

The 20x9 rim with "0" offset will be a 5" backspacing and will stick out a little close to two inches further than the stock rims and tires. The +18s will still stick out about an inch further from stock. I can get you a pic or two of my 20x9s with 0 offset and 295/60r20s tonight if you want...

Here you go... Tires are 295/60r20 Nitto Trails with 20x9 Fuel Trophy's and a backspacing of 5" (+1mm/0mm offset). All with a 2" level. Sorry about the grainy dirty pics, best I could do for tonight :lol:

Personally, I would go no less than a 5" backspacing. 4.5" will stick out way too much on a truck that's not lifted and cause rubbing depending on the tire. The +18mm would have been ideal in my case, but the rims were only offered in +1mm and -12mm. Although I do think it turned out pretty good, I still need to order some EGR OEM flares, as they look to give about an extra inch of coverage.

Thank you! I think you rims are perfect!! I like how they stuck out just a little to give your truck a nice aggressive look! How far do they stuck out? Also with the 20x9 0 offset n 4.5 backspace wheels that I'm looking at will they stick out a half inch more then yours since yours are a 5" backspace? I'm not too familiar with back spacing.

Hey thanks, I sort of took a shot in the dark going with that rim and tire combo as I couldn't find anybody running anything close on a leveled truck. As far as stick out, looking down from the top of the flare, the tire sticks out about 1.5" past the flare. Really depends on the tire though, AT vs MT ect.. Those 20x9's you're talking about with 0mm offset will be a 5" backspacing just like mine. Only way to get a 0mm offset with a 4.5" backspacing is with a 8" wide rim.

Ok great!! So then they will stick out the same as yours?

Maybe just a little bit more than mine if you go with a 33x12.5x20. My 295/60's measure 34.25x~12. Also depends on manufacturer and if its an AT or MT. So far I don't think I've ever had a better truck tire than the trails that's on road friendly. Great traction in every condition, extremely quiet and seem to be wearing well so far. Only complaint is their so fricken heavy.

stick to the 0 mm offset!

Just double checked with the rim shop and they said the 20x9 0 mm offset is a 4.5 backspace. I will be doing MT tires so they will add a little too.. How much will the 0mm 4.5 stick out? I don't want them to stick out too far and look stupid especially since I only have a level and not lifted.

That's really strange they're saying a 4.5 backspacing on a 0mm offset rim. If that is the case, they will be out roughly .5" more than mine. Do you have a link to the rims you're going with?

4.5" backspace equates to like a -12mm on 9" wheel? :confused:

Backspacing and offset go hand in hand, two measurements from different parts of the rim. The offset is the direction and amount the hub surface is from the middle of the rim. A minus number will be closer to the backside of the rim and a positive number will be closer to the front. 0mm will be centered. Backspacing is the distance from the backside of the hub surface to the backside of the rim. So you can't have one number without having another, as the chart shows. Stick with the 0mm or a positive number and you should be good to go as far as leveled trucks go. And try to stay away from 10" wide rims.

Ok I just talked to the guy again and he said he calculated wrong. They are 20x9 0mm offset and 5" backspace. Now I just have to decide which one to get 20x9 +18mm or 20x9 0mm. The 0 offset looks like it might stick out too far. It looks like 2" past the OEM fender flares with 33/12.5r20 MT tires.

Given your choices, I'd go with the +18. I think you'll be very pleased with the look. Just a little less than an an inch stick out compared to the 0. Its all in the look you're going for though. Either one will look great on your truck.

4.5" backspace on a 9" is -12 which was my first choice till someone told me I could stuff 10"s

Whichever you choose is great and yes 0 mm does equal 5" backspace

Thanks everyone for all the help! I ended up going with the 20x9 0mm offset! The rims will be here the end of next week! Can't wait! Now I just have to save up for tires. Here are some pics of the rims. I got the off eBay for a great deal! $525 plus $59 shipping!

Thanks!! Especially for the price it makes them even better lol. I just hope to be able to save up some money for tires soon! I have a little on on the way so I'm putting most of my money away for that. Atleast I have the rims though.
