New belt squeals

Bought the truck about a month ago, took it my my wife's family mechanic to get it inspected and new front rotors. They informed me that the belt needed to be replaced (made sense it has 167k on the clocks) so at the advice of my wife I let them do it. I do not know what brand they put on (was ignorant to the difference). I moved 600 miles away so going back to the shop is a no and now the squeal is almost constant. I know the belt is fine - its brand new - but the noise really bugs me is there any way to eliminate the noise short of replacing it? Thanks and so far I'm lovin the truck!

Tensioner is easy to check, more than likely its the belt. Get a goodyear gatorback belt, cures the squeel every time.

You could either try another belt, or you might have to scuff up the pulleys on the tensioners. They make a spray called belt dressing but I wouldn't try it, never seems to do anything except make a mess.

Pull the belt and check ALL the driven pulleys for smooth rotation. Any pulley that has rubber residue on it is suspect.

Ok I think I might need two new pulleys, they both are stiff to rotate. To add to it, the belt is an ACDelco, and the noise does not happen at idle, only when I'm moving. I put water on the belt to see exactly and it pointed also to pulleys. Thanks guys for the help and I will report back once the new pulleys are in. Should I also put a fresh belt in too?

Inspect the belt for wear and damage, if it still looks almost new you can reuse it.

That spray will tear an older belt to shreds.

Do you mean the belt conditioner spray? And the belt looks brand new, no cracks in thr ridges and its still clean.

I had a Ranger before coming back to the Full size F150. Everytime it rained the belt squeaked. It was more apparent when I made right hand turns. I think water was being thrown up on the belt.

I had that same issue on my 99 ranger. Kinda annoying but eventually I just ignored it.
