I'd be interested in one myself. We have LoJack on some of our equipment and it really doesn't work as advertised out here in the sticks (BFE).
I'm wanting to take a long trip across most of the western US and would be spending a fair amount of time in Cali.

I don't know how bad car theft is there now but when I left there in the 1980's it was terrible. My middle name is anything but lucky so barring a really good alarm and tracking system I will probably skip going to California.

My truck isn't anything special by any means but I had so much stuff stolen out there I'm pretty paranoid about going back. I'm tempted to put some trash wheels and cheap tires on before I go

Not any where near the problem here as it was in the 80-90's. Many of the illegals here gave up because of the incredible housing and living prices. It is pretty safe here now..........San Diego.

I'm curious..what do you mean it (LoJack) really doesnt work as advertised? It either works or it doesnt. Did you have a truck stolen and not recovered.

California is good, only car thefts around -1990 & lower are mostly stolen cause are 2000+ trucks, if someone trys to hotwire it, it will blow a fuse & wont let the trucks engine turn over, well that's what my dad said(you guys can correct me(Him)), but I wont best security for my truck cause people might not care to know about that when there stealing my truck am I right

Lojack requires that you report your vehicle to the police and you give them your lojack info then they will track it, ive had it once on my 93 Mustang but when I went to Florida, it got stolen the very next day I got there, I called the police and they said there was en error in the system (BullS***) the day before I was about to leave, I went through a neighborhood cause I got lost & I found it, already had a for sale sign, crappy *** spinners, matte black hood and purple A** fur interior (I knew it was mine cause the vin matched & it had a custom ford pinstripe down the side) I called the cops and I had to sign some papers but I got it back and when I drove back (embarrassingly) to California, I went to the ford dealer and traded it in for my 2006 Ford F-150, they only gave me $1200 for it, my insurance wouldnt even give me the money to change it back but atleast I have my Truck now

Isn't there a way to do a GPS tracker to locate cell phones?

Could you buy a cheaper cell phone and then hardwire it with the charger under the dash?
That way its out of site and always on. Even if someone stole the car and unhooked the battery you would have 6 or more hours to find it.

I have no idea if that would work reasonably, but it might be worth a try???
