advice for suggested maintenance

Hello everyone!

I have a question. I just bought a 2006 F150 FX4 supercrew truck with 80k miles. The truck was taken extremely good care of by the previous owner but I'm not sure what maintenance has been done on it such as tranny, diff, transfer case fluids ect. The truck drives great but this is my first truck. Any suggestions on maintenance I should plan to get done in the near future would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Also the truck was never used for towing anything and if you know estimate on costs, that would be helpful as well.

Thanks!

I have flushed the transmission fluid and brake fluid. Replaced rear end oil since I have the LS. And also replaced PS oil. I did this around 100K miles and could feel the difference. Along with oil changes every 5K, my truck is doing very good. I don't plan on touching the front diff or the transfer case, as it doesn't get severe use. You can do all this in your driveway using simple tools and by searching the forums. It helped me a ton.

Change out the coolant at about 100,000 or 5 years.

It will be time for spark plugs very soon if they haven't been done.

Awesome, thanks for all the help. I really appreciate it. I will begin putting together the list and start checking things off. The truck cost enough so I'll have to do it as I can.

spark plugs, tranny fluid, brake fluid, brakes, rear diff, front diff, transfer case fluid, belt, fuel filter, possibly pcv valve, oil change, air filter.

big ones id have done if you have no record of them are tranny fluid (and id just do a 3x3 drain, not flush), spark plugs, and rear diff

Change Coolant Use GO 5 Yellow Many Parts Stores will have the Zerex Brand (It's Fine)
Change Fuel Filter I write the Date & Milage on the filter with a Sharpie
Spark Plugs Due Soon
Transmission Fluid & Filter + Transfer Case if 4x4
Inspect things Like Air Filter,Battery & Terminals & Check all fluid levels etc.
I would Flush out the Brake Fluid Too.

I am in the same position I need to do 100k maintenance. Ford wanted over 3 grand to do it...like WTF

I will probably end up doing it all myself except the serpentine belt and spark plugs (so I don't accidentally break them off)

The serpentine belt isn't too bad to replace, just have to take the air box loose and the radiator cover. I replaced mine a little over a month ago because it was squealing on high RPM shifts.

You can do it all. Just read this forum before each job and theres usually pictures and stories to help you out. The spark plugs are the only thing I would consider paying since they like to break and you need a $100 tool if they do. Good luck!

Sounds about right.

Make sure to check the date on the battery too. If in doubt, replace it. Don't want to see you get stranded with a dead battery.
