Hey guys, my vehicle is a 2008 Ford F150 scab 4x4 5.4 3valve with the 3.73 gear ratio, stock size tires, 4x4. I have finally decided and saved up enough money to do the tuner/intake kit. The first thing i have learned and IT IS IMPORTANT, before you even make your call to Mike at 5star, you need to find out if your truck has been updated by Ford because if it has, Mike says it has a different controller? He knows a helluva lot more then i do so i did what the man says. But anyway, the man asks you what FIVE tunes you want and i chose 87eco, 87tow,87performance, 91tow, 91performance and really that was it. I told him that i wanted the AFE intake and not the ugly S&B intake, he offers more then he shows. Plus i did the DryFlow filter plus i did the AFE Prefilter, looks nice. Ok, once you recieve your investment from Mike, you (if your truck has been updated..your PCM code is worthless now) you have to get your strategy code, easy thing no worries. Email that to mike and within a hour i had my tunes. Via USB cord and with a cd, you install your SCT software on your home computer..SAVE ALL OF THIS TO YOUR DESKTOP for a easy location reasons. Now, just plug your usb cord to your device/your computer and boom. Easy guys, even a old brain dead truck driver like me can do it. Got my intake installed and drove it, eh, just another intake ya know, yeah i can feel alil extra pep but without a tune you will run lean, trust me, i have pink spark plugs from AirAid to prove it. Ok, Then i installed my 91oct peformance. First 10/15miles were alil quirky but i was told to expect that. The truck even pinged which made me cringe. Called Mike and was told to expect THAT. The pinging went away and the truck straightned out during a 30mile trip. Ok, I am not 100% impressed with the power increase at WOT during a 0 to 60 but 60 to 80mph, wow. As soon as the foot hit the pedal, my back hit the seat. What i am 100%impressed with is how the trans feels during everything. What i really like is how my truck performs at slight throttle now. It actually accelerates at a flip of the throttle and works great on entrance ramps to the interstate. Drive by wire is fixed too. I guess i really need to try ALL my tunes before i make a review, but i know people on here all know or have seen/heard 5star tunes and would want to hear about experiences. Yep, just a single catback from Magnflow. Had it since new. As far as intakes go, yeah i like my AFE lol i almost typed aem doesnt really matter, without a tune, they all run about the same anyway. I did the dry flow filter, but dang man that BRIGHT WHITE filter really stood out like a sore thumb in the engine bay so i did the black prefilter as well. I will make some pics
